Exercise 6: Access Codes
Objective
To create an Access Code and assign it to a job.
Summary
Create an Access Code called TrainingAC and assign the Access Code to WINDOWS JOB 1 in MY FIRST SCHEDULE. Log out of Enterprise Manager and log back in as Student1 and note that the user cannot view WINDOWS JOB 1 because the TrainingAC Access Code has not been assigned to the Training role.
Instructions
Create the Access Code
- In Library under Security, select Access Codes.
- Click Add.
- In the Access Code pop-up window:
- In the Name field, enter
TrainingAC
. - In the Description field, enter in some documentation.
- Example: This is an Access Code for the Training.
- Click Save.
- Click Back in the top right corner.
Assign the Access Code to the Job
- In Library > Administration, select Master Jobs.
- Using the filers at the top of the job table, search for and select Windows Job 1.
- Click Edit.
- Click the Lock button in the upper right-hand corner.
- In the Access Code drop-down list, select TrainingAC.
- Click the Save.
- Close Library.
Granting Access Code Privileges
- In Library > Security > Access Management, select the Training Role
- Click Resources, in the Role Definition section.
- Expand Access Code
- Select the < None > Access Code.
- Select Allow Job Updates
- Click Save
Validate the Privileges
- Logout of Solution Manager.
- On the Login screen:
- In the Username field, enter
Student1
. - In the Password field, enter
password1
.
- Under the Library > Administration topic, click Master Jobs.

- What do you see?
- Why?
- You should not see Windows Job 1 because the Training role, isn't granted access to the TrainingAC Access Code.
- Be sure to logout of the Student1 profile and log back in as smauser.
Enterprise Manager
Details
- Under the Security topic, Double-Click on Access Codes.
- Click the Add button on the Access Codes toolbar.
- Type Training in the Name field.
- Type This is an Access code for the Training. in the Documentation field.
- Click the Save button on the Access Codes toolbar.
- Close the Access Codes tab.
- Be sure you are logged on with your
SMATRAINING\SMAUSER
login. - Under the Administration topic, Double-Click Job Master.
- Select My First Schedule from the Schedule drop-down list.
- Select Windows Job 1 from the Job drop-down list.
- On the Access Code drop-down list, select Training.
- Save your Job and close the Job Master tab..
- Logout from Enterprise Manager. Click the Logout button or select Logout from the Enterprise Manager Menu bar.
- Click OK to confirm you are logging out.
- From the OpCon/xps Login screen type
Student1
in the Username field andpassword1
in the Password Field. Click Login. - Under the Administration topic, Double-Click Job Master.
- Select My First Schedule from the Schedule drop-down list.
- Click the Job drop-down list. What do you see? Why?
- Close the Job Master tab and then logout from Enterprise Manager. Click OK to confirm you are logging out.
- From the OpCon/xps Login screen leave both the Username and the Password fields blank and click Login.
